今日は松坂大介選手の特集をお届けします。

父は北海道稚内市出身で、母は青森県外ヶ浜町出身。弟・松坂恭平は愛媛マンダリンパイレーツに所属していた元野球選手。妻は元日本テレビアナウンサーの柴田倫世。夫婦の間には2005年12月に誕生した長女と、2008年3月に誕生した長男がいます。
「大輔」という名前は、1980年に大旋風を巻き起こした甲子園のアイドル、早稲田実業の荒木大輔のように甲子園で活躍できるようにという家族の願いからつけられたものであり、その親の願い以上の結果を甲子園、プロで残しています。
愛称は「マツポン」「マツ」「ダイスケ」、アメリカメディアでは「Dice-K」「D-Mat」という愛称が使われています。ボストンでは「Dice-K」が好まれる。本人は「D-Mat」をサインに使うこともある。
代理人はスコット・ボラス氏。
「目標が、その日その日を支配する」という句を座右の銘にしているが、これは横浜高校創立者黒土四郎が愛した詩の一行である（黒土四郎の先輩後藤静香が創作した『第一歩』という詩）からの引用だそうです。
東京都江戸川区のリトルリーグ出身。リトルリーグ時代にNHK教育テレビジョンの『天才てれびくん』に出演した経歴があります。
横浜高校時代は、「サボリのマツ」と言われるほどの練習嫌いであったが、2年次の夏の甲子園県予選での対横浜商業高校戦で、自身の暴投によるサヨナラ負け以来奮起し、MAX152km/hの豪速球・切れ味鋭いスライダー、カーブ、チェンジアップを武器に超高校級の投手として「平成の怪物」と注目を浴びました。 またバッテリーを組んでいた捕手は、入学時に現在俳優の上地雄輔、上地の引退後は小山良男でした。
1998年の第70回選抜高等学校野球大会ではすでにずば抜けた完成度の投球と小山、後藤武敏、小池正晃らチームメイトの活躍で他校を寄せ付けず優勝。最後の夏となった第80回全国高等学校野球選手権大会では、準々決勝で上重聡を擁するPL学園を相手に延長17回という長丁場の試合に250球を投げ完投勝利。翌日の準決勝、明徳義塾戦でも1イニングに登板し、逆転劇を呼び込みました。
決勝戦では、嶋清一以来59年ぶり史上2人目となる決勝の京都成章戦ノーヒットノーランという快挙。圧倒的な活躍で春・夏連覇を達成した。また、新チーム結成後、1997年秋季県大会ブロック予選から翌年国体決勝まで、公式戦44連勝を記録しました。
1998年度新人選手選択会議では、指名順位1位で西武ライオンズ、横浜ベイスターズ、日本ハムファイターズの3球団が競合の末西武が交渉権を獲得（ハズレ1位として横浜は古木克明、日本ハムは實松一成を指名）。当初ドラフト直後の会見では、「自分の意中の球団は横浜ベイスターズでした」と語っていたが、西武へ入団しました。
